The data shows that the overall machine tool industry is not optimistic. Chen Huiren, executive vice president and secretary general of China Machine Tool Industry Association, said that in January-February 2014, the loss-making enterprises in the whole industry were as high as 50%, while metal processing machine tools lost more than 56%. . Last year, a number of machine tool companies announced their closure and their losses gradually expanded.

Chen Huiren further explained that due to limited technical level, high-end machine tools mainly rely on imports, while low-end machine tools have excess capacity, inventory is at a high level, and profit margins are small. Moreover, the homogenization competition in the industry is serious, and the low-end market even has the vicious price competition. Some enterprises use the unfair competition means such as the cost price to gain market share.

In 2014, the machine tool industry was in the “new normal state”. One of the important aspects was that the low-speed operation will be maintained for a period of time, and the development characteristics of the industry will also shift from high speed to high quality and high efficiency. According to industry analysts, the severe market situation will become the biggest boost to the industry transformation. One of the development trends of foreign machine tool enterprises in recent years is to maintain and extend downwards on the basis of high-end leadership. In the domestic market, under the tide of low-end machine tools becoming saturated, robbing the mid-end market will become the development of the machine tool industry. The only way to go.

Last year, the export of machine tool industry increased by 22.1% year-on-year, and the total export volume reached US$11.63 billion, a slight increase compared with 2013. In summing up the judgment of the industry operation in 2014, the industry main body has not yet stepped out of the downside, but the range has slowed down. It is expected that the downward pressure on the machine tool industry in 2015 will be high. The sales of domestic machine tools are expected to be the same as in 2014. Adjusting the industrial structure and expanding the mid-to-high-end product line are still important issues for the development of this year.
