When a single crystal of crystal or barium titanate is subjected to a force, a charge is generated on the surface, a so-called piezoelectric effect. A material that produces a piezoelectric effect, which we call a piezoelectric material or a piezoelectric element. The piezoelectric acceleration sensor converts mechanical energy into electrical energy by using a piezoelectric element as a reed of a vibrator, and transmits an electrical signal proportional to the vibration acceleration. According to the different force modes of the piezoelectric element, the piezoelectric acceleration sensor can be divided into two basic categories: compression type and shear type, and their structures are as shown in the above figure. The compression type piezoelectric sensor is constructed such that a piezoelectric element is sandwiched between a weight and a base of the sensor, and the piezoelectric element is pressed to generate a charge. In the shear type configuration, the pillar is perpendicular to the susceptor, and the piezoelectric element is sandwiched between the pillar and the weight, and the gravity of the weight causes the piezoelectric element to be sheared to generate electric charge. In the conventional acceleration sensor, a compression method is used in many cases, but a piezoelectric sensor having a shear mode which is less affected by the strain of the susceptor and the change in the ambient temperature has recently become popular.
