Australian Energy Company Uses Artificial Wind Tunnel to Use Wave Power

Waves contain enormous energy, and it belongs to renewable green energy. Recently, Australia's energy company Wave Swell Energy has developed a new wave power generation device that uses waves similar to “artificial wind tunnels” to obtain wave energy. The New Atlas website interviewed Dr. Tom Denniss, CEO of Wave Swell Energy, to explain how the company's new wave power plant generates electricity.

The device is built on the seaside by part of the concrete columnar structure, the waves convectively flow in and out of the center cabin, the air above the surface of the wave is discharged, and the turbine is driven to generate electricity. The length and width of the column structure is about 20×20 meters, and the vertical height is 18 meters. The vertical height above the water surface is 8 meters. There is no moving mechanism under the water. Dr. Denniss said, “It's basically a man-made wind tunnel, like a vertical man-made cavern. Its opening is underwater and it's down, the top can be sealed or opened by valves and turbines. When the waves pass through the structure, the water will flow. Into this cave, the internal water surface rises. This will replace the air above the water, and the air is discharged through a series of valves. When the water surface goes down, the valve closes to cause a vacuum inside the chamber, and then the air will be pumped back into the chamber because of the negative pressure. This force will drive the turbines to produce electricity."

The device has a peak output power of up to 1 MW, an average output power of around 470 kW, a peak average power ratio of up to 47%, and a peak average power ratio of 30% for other wind or wave power generation methods. The company claims that this device is The cost of electricity generation can reach $ 0.07 per kWh, which is close to the traditional cost of thermal power generation. This new installation has now supplied electricity to King Island, Australia, which has a population of less than 2,000, and completes 100% of the green renewable energy resources on the entire island.

Diamond Wire For Magnetic Material Cutting

When the electroplated Diamond Wire is cut, the workpiece is scratched by the diamond abrasive particles on the circumferential surface. Electroplated diamond wire cutting is widely used in the field of hard and brittle material processing due to its high cutting efficiency and little damage to raw materials. Compared with other hard and brittle materials, magnetic materials such as neodymium, iron and boron have similarities and differences. Magnetic materials such as neodymium, iron and boron are mostly made by powder metallurgy process, and there are large lattices and voids inside the materials. It has a certain influence on the electroplated diamond cutting wire.
