According to Shanghai Customs statistics, in the first five months of this year, the import of auto parts in the customs area was 1.6 billion US dollars, a substantial increase of 1.5 times compared with the same period last year. Among them, the import of auto parts in the customs area in March was 370 million US dollars, setting a record high since 2006. After importing 360 million U.S. dollars in May and surged 1.3 times, the import volume of auto parts in Shanghai Customs District has doubled in the sixth consecutive month.

Statistics show that more than 70% of imports are from the EU and Japan. In the first five months of this year, the Shanghai Customs District imported 750 million US dollars and 470 million US dollars of auto parts from the EU and Japan respectively, which surged 1.5 times and 1.7 times respectively, accounting for the total import volume of auto parts in the customs area. 47.1% and 29.3%. In the same period, imports of auto parts from South Korea amounted to US$120 million, an increase of 94.2%, accounting for 7.7% of the total imports of auto parts in the same period.

Among the imported goods, the automatic shift gearbox and its parts for the small car are the largest imported varieties, importing 420 million US dollars, an increase of 1.9 times, accounting for 26.4% of the total import of automobile parts in the customs area in the same period. . In addition, the import volume of other parts and accessories of the body (including the cab) was 200 million US dollars, an increase of 86.4%, accounting for 12.3% of the total import of automobile parts in the customs area in the same period.
