Boeing 777 tastes the first 3D printing aircraft engine parts
Earlier this year, GE, the world's leading aerospace engine manufacturer, unveiled the first aircraft engine parts manufactured using 3D printing technology.
The latest news shows that this part has passed the FAA FAA certification, which means that 3D technology is officially recognized by the aero engine manufacturing industry.
It is understood that GE's 3D printing parts are the outer casing of the T25 compressor inlet temperature sensor, which is printed with fine powder of cobalt-chromium alloy, which is both lightweight and sturdy.
According to GE, 3D printing technology can greatly improve the production efficiency of parts with complex structures. Compared with traditional mold opening, 3D printing costs are lower and it is easier to modify the design.
According to plan, the T25 compressor inlet temperature sensor housing produced by 3D printing technology will be used in the GE90-94B jet engine used by the Boeing 777 in the future.
