Analysis of global renewable energy investment such as photovoltaics
According to the latest report released by the United Nations Environment Program and the 21st Century Renewable Energy Policy Network, global investors’ investment in solar power generation jumped 52% in 2011 to reach US$147 billion, more than double the investment in wind power generation. The preferred project for global sustainable energy investment in 2011.
In the 2012 Global Trend Report on Renewable Energy Investment, the United Nations Environment Program pointed out that despite the increasingly fierce competition in the renewable energy sector, last year did not include the total investment in renewable energy fields including large hydropower. It still grew by 17% to a record $257 billion, a six-fold increase over 2004. Compared to 2007 before the financial crisis, its total investment was also 94% higher.
In addition, according to the 2012 Global Status of Renewable Energy released by the 21st Century Renewable Energy Policy Network, renewable energy technology has expanded to more emerging markets in 2011: wind turbines, solar photovoltaics installed in about 50 countries Power generation has also rapidly expanded to emerging countries and regions. The number of households using solar water heaters has exceeded 200 million. Solar water heaters have been installed in many public buildings and office buildings around the world.
According to the above two reports, in terms of renewable energy investment, China’s total investment of US$52 billion is the highest in the world, followed by the United States with a total investment of US$51 billion. Europe is still the region with the largest dollar investment in 2011. The total investment reached $101 billion. India's investment in renewable energy has grown by 62% to $12 billion due to the introduction of the National Solar Plan, which is the fastest growing in all major renewable energy markets worldwide. Brazil’s investment in renewable energy in 2011 also increased by 8% to reach $7 billion. As of the beginning of 2012, at least 118 countries around the world have set renewable energy development targets, more than half of which are developing countries, compared with only 96 last year.
