U.S. to initiate investigation of electronic anti-theft products

The US International Trade Commission recently launched a "337 investigation" on electronic anti-theft products produced by many companies such as China and Belgium to determine if they have patent infringement.

The United States International Trade Commission issued a statement saying that the product involved is an acousto-magnetic electronic merchandise anti-theft system and its similar components, mainly used in retail stores to prevent others from shoplifting. The survey involved China Ningbo Xinqiang Electronic Technology Co., Ltd., Belgian All-Tag Company and some US companies.

The statement said that the Thai Tyco Fire and Security Company and its US affiliates filed a complaint on December 11 last year alleging that the above-mentioned products imported by the United States and sold on the US market infringed on the company’s patents and required the US International Trade Commission to initiate “337 investigation”. ", issue exclusion orders and prohibit import orders.

In response to the United States frequently launching such investigations, the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China has repeatedly stated that it hopes that the U.S. government will abide by its opposition to trade protectionism and jointly safeguard a free, open and fair international trade environment and properly handle trade frictions in a more rational manner.
