Sandvik Coromant launches new CBN blade

Sandvik Coromant has introduced a new line of CBN (Cubic Boron Nitride) blades. These inserts were developed for high quality surfaces and high productivity machining of hardened steel parts.

The CB7015 insert with the new Safe-Lok (safety lock) construction, with continuous and slightly intermittent conditions, provides predictable performance even at high cutting speeds.

Safe-Lok's multi-angle technology mechanically locks the CBN insert away from the high temperature cutting area, thus providing strength and safety superior to conventional tip structures.

Larger CBN cutting edges provide better functionality in cutting steps, undercuts, and other profiling.

The new CB7015 insert successfully combines the high performance and reliability required to process high hardness materials (58-65 HRc).

PDC Drill Bits

Polycrystalline Diamond Compact (PDC) drill bits are designed for efficient and effective drilling in various formations, from soft to hard rock. The surface of the cylindrical-shaped PDC cutters consists of premium synthetic diamond particles sintered together by high pressure and high temperature. These cutters have high hardness, wear resistance, and great tenacity, making them ideal for drilling in oil, gas, mining, and engineering fields.

PDC coring bits are designed for use with high-powered drill rigs operating at relatively low rotation speeds. They offer several advantages over surface set bits, including faster penetration, longer drilling life, and better performance in hard rock formations.

The Q series of PDC coring bits , including BQ, NQ, HQ, and PQ sizes, are widely used for soft to medium hard rock formations. The disc-shaped cutting element's surface consists of very fine synthetic diamond particles sintered together by high pressure and high temperature. A tungsten carbide stud is brazed directly into the bit matrix, allowing the cutters to withstand the large compressive and shear loads generated during drilling .

Two main types of PDC cutters are available: conventional flat design or dome. The flat design is suitable for general drilling applications, while the dome design is ideal for drilling in hard rock formations.
