Precautions in the use of diamond refurbishing tools
Precautions in the use of diamond refurbishing tools
correct:
1. Before using the new dresser, exit from the last trimmed feed. Many crisp diamond dressing tools are easily damaged in the beginning of contact with the grinding wheel.
2. Install the diamond dressing tool head at an angle of 10 to 15° so that it points in the direction of rotation of the grinding wheel.
3. Firmly install the trimmer or clamp trimming tool. Do not overhang the tool head too long.
4. Whenever possible, use coolant as much as possible. During the entire dressing time, use the coolant to pour the dressing tool into contact with the grinding wheel.
5. At the beginning of the dressing, lift from the highest point of the grinding wheel, usually the middle of the grinding wheel.
6. Be careful to perform a minor amount of repair. The maximum depth of repair, for rough repair: 0.001 ~ 0.002 inches. For finishing: 0.0005 to 0.001 inches.
7. Select the appropriate lateral movement speed according to the relevant manual. The slower the lateral movement speed (in the allowable range), the lower the surface roughness of the grinding wheel is obtained.
8. The grinding wheel must be trimmed at specified intervals to prevent the grinding wheel from becoming dull and increasing the grinding force.
9. Rotate the dressing tool in the tool holder 1/8 turn at the specified time interval to ensure that the dressing tool is always sharp.
10. When the diamond dresser or tool head becomes dull or significantly flattened, it should be adjusted and replaced in a timely manner.
11. According to the diameter of the grinding wheel, choose the CARAT amount of diamond (pure diamond content). The larger the grinding wheel diameter, the larger the selected CARAT value.
Incorrect:
1. When placing the diamond dressing tool head to the holder, be careful not to hit the surface of the grinding wheel.
2. It is not possible to align the single-point diamond dressing tool head vertically to the center of the grinding wheel, generally 10 to 15°.
3. It is not possible to “quench†a hot dressing tool (referring to sudden cooling). During dry dressing, the interval between two trims must be maintained sufficient to allow the hot trimming tool to cool.
4. It cannot be assumed that the surface of the grinding wheel has an ideal flatness. At the beginning of the dressing, find the highest point of the grinding wheel and trim it.
5. If possible, the amount of dressing per grinding wheel should not exceed 0.001 inches on the radius of the grinding wheel. Excessive amounts of trim can cause premature wear and frequent breakage of the diamond dressing tool head.
6. But you can't fix too little margin every time. Grinding wheels used on old or poorly machined machines may not be trimmed.
7. Note that you cannot stay in a position for too long in trimming. This will polish the surface of the wheel, creating high temperatures and damaging the diamond dressing tool. Turn the dressing tool at least once a day.
8. Do not continue to use worn or damaged dressing tools. It should be adjusted or replaced in a timely manner.
9. It is not possible to select over-repair and too fast cross-feeding speed during roughing, and then select minor repair and slow lateral feedrate during finishing. This will quickly damage the diamond dressing tool. If possible, it is recommended to select the same lateral feed rate for roughing and finishing.
