Cucumber has the characteristic of selective absorption. It is similar to nitrate nitrogen. When only ammonium nitrogen is supplied, the leaf color becomes thicker, the leaves become smaller, and the growth is slow. Cucumber had the highest nitrogen uptake 30 days after planting, with the most uptake of leaves. After 50 days of planting, the leaves and fruits absorbed approximately the same nutrients, and most of the nutrients were absorbed by the fruit for 70 days.
The production of 1000 kg of cucumber requires about 2.5 kg of nitrogen, 1 kg of phosphorus and 4 kg of potassium.
Before planting, the farmer's fertilizer is 4000 kg (or commercial organic fertilizer 1500 kg) and ternary compound fertilizer 50 kg is used as the base fertilizer. When the cucumber enters the early stage of the melon, the first top dressing is carried out. Afterwards, the growth and harvesting conditions are followed by the fertilizer every 7 days to 10 days, and the ternary compound fertilizer or nitrogen fertilizer of 5 kg is gradually increased to 15 kg.
The seed dressing can be applied by foliar fertilizer, and the liquid fertilizer can be used for rooting treatment in the growing season.
