Application of MPC08 Motion Control Card in CNC System of Open Drilling Machine
introduction
Today, with the rapid development of computer technology, the transformation of CNC systems from traditional dedicated closed systems to flexible open CNC systems has become an inevitable trend. Compared with the traditional closed CNC system, the open CNC system has the following advantages:
Scalability, the function and scale of the CNC system (hardware or software module) can be flexibly increased or decreased according to the specific application;
Portability, the system's functional software is independent of the operating platform and can run on hardware platforms provided by different vendors;
Scalability, developers can effectively integrate their own software into the NC system to form their own dedicated system;
Interoperability, through standardized interfaces, communication and interaction mechanisms, enable different functional modules to gain interoperability and coordinate work.
At present, the main form of the open CNC system is PC-based NC, that is, a motion controller with NC function is inserted on the bus of the PC to complete the NC core function with high real-time requirements. This project is based on the MPC08 motion controller of Stepping Electromechanical Co., Ltd., which is a universal motion controller that can meet the functional requirements of CNC system and cost-effective. The subject is based on the technology of the drilling machine.
1 overall system structure
The system CNC drilling machine has a total of 8 axes, namely X, Y axis and Z1, Z2, Z3, Z4, Z5, Z6 axis, where the X, Y axis control plane is positioned in two directions, Z1, Z2, Z3, Z4, Z5 and Z6 control the feed rate of the drill, and XYZ can control the linkage. During machining, the machining file of the workpiece is programmed according to the parameters of the hole coordinate, hole diameter and hole depth on the workpiece to be machined, and the system controls the machine tool to complete the drilling process according to the machining file.
In order to control the 8 axes of the machine tool, we used the MPC08 motion controller as the core of the system control and plugged into the PCI slot of the PC. The industrial PC is used as the main control computer to complete the communication with the MPC08 controller and non-real-time tasks such as upper system operation, scheduling management, fault diagnosis, and parameter input.
MPC08 is an open universal motion controller. All commands are immediate commands. It is suitable for high speed of PCB drilling machine, positioning accurate point movement, and has enough dedicated and universal IO channel for machine control. Software Provides a wealth of motion control functions for users to develop independently on the Windows platform to build the required CNC system. We plug the MPC08 into the PCI slot of the PC and use it to control the entire system.
The IO and feedback system use the dedicated and universal input and output channels of the MPC08 to connect and control the IO signals of various machine tools. The drive and servo stepper motor units receive the required motions for receiving the pulse and direction signals from the MPC08.
The inverter and spindle rotation control part uses the serial port of the PC to communicate with the inverter, thereby completing the spindle speed control. This control is independent of the MPC08.

The meter can work with a pulse receiver(Count). The connection is as follows. The resistance value is up to the cable length & the max. input pulse frequency of receiver. Current 10mA is suitable for most receivers; however, you can reduce the resistance value when the cable is long. The max. current could be 50mA. Please use the fixed frequency output function to check if the cable length & resistance value is suitable.
Please check following items before operation, and operate according to relevant rules.
a) If the meter is damaged during shipment and installation;
b) If the voltage is same as marked on nameplate;
c) If the fuse is correct;
d) If the meter is grounded properly.
e) If the Meter SN on the nameplate of sensor and transmitter are the same.
If everything is fine, please open all valves, make the pipeline full of liquid and then power on
the meter for warm-up for 20min before operation. Finally, conduct zero calibration after first
start, and shall do it again if the meter is moved to another site.
Preparation for zero calibration:
a) Power on the meter for approximately 20min for warm-up;
b) Run the process fluid through the sensor until the sensor temperature reaches the normal
process operating temperature.
c) Close the shutoff valve downstream from the sensor.
d) Ensure that the sensor is filled with fluid and the process flow has completely stopped.
