5000 tons of carbon fiber production line put into operation

On November 18th, Jilin Chemical Fibre Group Co., Ltd. put into operation 5,000 tons of acrylonitrile-based carbon fiber yarn production line. It has become the largest production base for carbon fiber yarn in the country, and the concept of “China's carbon valley†in Jilin City has become a reality.
It is understood that Jilin Chemical Fiber Group has started research and development of carbon fiber raw silk production technology since 2006. Through the integration of laboratory results and acrylic fiber production experience, it has integrated and innovated the industrialized production technology of T300 grade PAN-based carbon fiber precursor. This technology adopts the ternary aqueous suspension polymerization method to produce carbon fiber precursor polymer, and the wet two-step method to produce carbon fiber precursor. Its characteristics are short process flow, stable quality, and high yield. At present, all other carbon fiber precursor manufacturers in the country use one-step method to prepare carbon fiber precursors. Only Jilin Chemical Fiber Group adopts wet two-step method to produce carbon fiber precursors, and the two-step method has been proved to be more suitable for large-scale industrial production. This technical achievement has independent intellectual property rights and is the first in the country. It has now obtained two national invention patents, which has broken through the technical bottleneck that has long restricted the localization of carbon fiber materials in China and laid a foundation for the wide application of new carbon fiber materials in China.
In February 2008, Jilin Chemical Fiber's 100-ton/year production line for carbon fiber precursors was officially put into production and was at the leading level in China. In 2009, Jilin Chemical Fiber's 1,500 ton/year original silk production line was put into operation, which drove the development of the local carbon wire and its deep processing products industry. In January 2010, the Ministry of Science and Technology identified Jilin City as a national carbon fiber high-tech industrialization base.
Since then, Jilin Chemical Fiber has invested RMB 550 million in the establishment of Jilin Carbon Valley Carbon Fiber Co., Ltd., which has introduced advanced foreign equipment and started construction of a 5,000-ton/year PAN-based carbon fiber yarn project. The project has built 4 production lines. On September 1 this year, Jilin Chemical Fiber's 5,000 tons/year PAN-based carbon fiber precursor yarn production line was successfully tested. After the project is put into production, it is expected that the annual output value will reach 400 million yuan and the profit will be nearly 180 million yuan. By the end of the “Twelfth Five-Year Planâ€, Jilin Chemical Fiber will build 20 raw silk production lines, the size of which will reach 20,000 tons/year.
