Global wind power installed capacity increased from 18GW at the end of 2000 to 215GW in June 2011

In 2011, it was the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the World Wind Energy Association (WWEA). Ten years ago, in July 2001, representatives from all over the world decided in Copenhagen to create an association that represented the interests of the wind power industry at a global level. At that time, the global wind power capacity was only 18 GW.
WWEA's work has contributed significantly to the strong growth of wind power worldwide, resulting in an increase of global wind power generation capacity from 18GW (end of 2000) to 215GW (June 2011), an increase of over 10 times. At the same time, WWEA has enjoyed strong growth. Today, there are more than 500 members in 100 countries. WWEA's member associations represent more than 50,000 members.
